Julia L. Pierson, DPT
Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

I am physical therapist who specializes in treating patients needing help with pelvic health, women’s health, and related orthopedic concerns.

I had a fairly idyllic childhood growing up on a cherry farm in Traverse City, MI. I completed my undergraduate degree while competing in cross country skiing and cross country running for the University of Alaska, where I earned NCAA All-American in cross country skiing. I moved to Utah for graduate school in 2011, and I love living in Utah.

My practice is focused on pelvic health and associated orthopedics, and vestibular rehab.  My clinical philosophy is to facilitate comprehensive wellness, and is centered on enhancing quality of life at and in preparation for every stage of life and activity level. My first experience with physical therapy was as a patient addressing my own injuries that came with being an endurance athlete in high school and college. I started my physical therapy career working at the Intermountain Hearing and Balance Center with a focus on treating patients with dizziness and balance issues associated with vestibular injury (inner ear), post concussion/mTBI, and migraines. I have since experienced the benefit of physical therapy and my bodies' capacity to heal after pregnancy and a physically traumatic delivery. I learned first hand that pelvic floor health is not only important for bowel, bladder, and sexual function, but is necessary for appropriate musculoskeletal function during daily activities and exercise/fitness. My eagerness to recover, and my success with rehabilitation after pregnancy and delivery is what led me to seek advanced training in pelvic health. I know that "it feels good to feel good", and my goal is to help each client find that understanding for themselves.

When I am not in the clinic I enjoy spending time with my family and our community, and running, biking or skiing in the mountains. In the last several years I have enjoyed participating in community based running and ski races, and doing ultra distance adventure runs with my husband and friends. I find great joy in watching my kids learn and try new things.
